Cecil Scott Forester
(Cairo, 27 August 1899 - April 2, 1966), British writer famous for his saga of the Royal Navy in the Napoleonic Wars of the hand of his hero Horatio Hornblower and Hollywood screenwriter.

Born in Cairo, Egypt where his father George Foster Smith, English teacher was British government official. His mother was Sarah Medhurst Troughton. He studied medicine that did not finish.

His first success as a writer was the novel Payment Deferred (1926). This work with others such as Pride and the Passion (1933) and The African Queen (1935), were made into films.

In the genre of naval novel highlights the saga starring the fictional sailor Horatio Hornblower (1937-1957) based from correspondence that remains National Maritime Museum and initiated by the events chronologically narrates the novel The Midshipman Hornblower .
