Bernard Cornwell (London, 23 February 1944) is a novelist and English journalist. He lost his parents at an early age, a soldier of the Royal Canadian Air Force recruits and British Women's Auxiliary Board. Cornwell is the surname of his mother.

Adopted by the members of a strict Protestant sect, Cornwell attended various studies and became employed as a teacher after going through the university. After working for the BBC, he moved to America where he began historical sagas for which has become famous.
