Bruno Traven (Germany, February 25, 1882 - Mexico, March 26, 1969) is one of the many pseudonyms (Hermann Albert Otto Max Feige, Hal Croves , Traven Torsvan or Ret Marut), an enigmatic novelist who wrote in German (identified as Bernhard Traven Torsvan), and is famous in the United States primarily for writing the novel The Treasure of Sierra Madre , which was based on the eponymous film starring Humphrey Bogart.
