Institutions Define Strategy for the Management of Biological Corridors


Tela, Atlántida .- To conclude institutional level the strategies that work effectively allow the subject biological corridors took place the workshop Defining the National Strategy for the Management of Biological Corridors of Honduras.


The day attended by National Institute of Forest Conservation and Development (ICF), Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment (SERNA), the Project Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Watershed Mesoamerican Biological Corridor in the Honduran Atlantic (PROCORREDOR ), Panthera projects, Trifinio Plan, Ecosystems and Moskitia.

The themes that developed were history of Mesoamerican biological corridor and corridor areas of Honduras, policies and current laws, which support the promotion of runners biologically in the CBM in Honduras and its importance, the Honduran Caribbean Corridor, The Moskitia, Sierra Rio Tinto, the Gulf of Fonseca region among others.

Similarly, came forward national efforts in the management of biological corridors, which is done through projects such as: AP Montecristo, Reserve Transboundary Biosphere Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, PROCORREDOR, Ecosystems, Biodiversity Conservation in Productive Landscapes of the Moskitia (UNDP / SERNA), Corridor Mangle Honduras , PROGOLFO, Pacific Rim and Panthera Foundation.


Corridor is the unit of land consisting of legally protected natural areas and connecting areas that provide a set of environmental goods and services, areas for social partnership to promote investment in conservation, management and sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity.


The event was chaired by the Vice Minister of Protected Areas of ICF, José Antonio Galdames, the Director of Biodiversity SERNA, Rafael Amaro García, Department of Protected Areas of the ICF, Eula Dominguez, the Association of Biologists, Sergio Midence The project Trifinio Mario Buch, Solidarity Project, Mauritius Irías and the Honduran Caribbean Corridor Sonia Guillen, among others.
