San Francisco del Valle, Ocotepeque. - In order to reduce forest fires in the region, Minister Director of ICF, José Trinidad Suazo, the launching of the Forest Protection Campaign in the West, in the municipality of San Francisco del Valle, Ocotepeque.
With this type of activities they seek to involve communities in caring for the forests, informing them of the importance of forest protection, with emphasis on fire prevention and control and make public the bylaws with regard to forest protection.
During Launch Campaign Forest Protection Minister Suazo, making the delivery of tools to 200 leaders from 15 communities in the municipality of San Marcos and San Francisco Ocotepeque del Valle, who were trained in Wildland Firefighting Course taught by the ICF, with the support of the Commission Tri Trifinio Plan and the German International Cooperation GIZ with the Forests and Water.
700 were given tools such as fire extinguishers, masks, shirts, boots, pulaskis, machetes, canteens, spades, helmets, first aid kit, with an estimated cost of $ 17 000 funded by the German cooperation GIZ, the same equipment and under the same amount we launched the campaign in the municipality of Santa Rita de Copan.
The event was attended by the Deputy Roman Department Villeda, political governance, Evelyn Smith, the mayors of San Francisco del Valle, Armando Madrid, San Marcos de Ocotepeque, Gerber Santos, Program Coordinator Forest and Water, Adrian Vogel and Executive Director of Plan Trifinio July Castrillo, among others.
