IFC Launch Strategic Plan National Protected Areas System of Honduras

Minister Director of National Conservation Institute (ICF), José Trinidad Suazo and the Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment (SERNA) Rigoberto Cuellar, presented Wednesday at the Presidential Palace, the Strategic Plan of the National Protected Areas System of Honduras 2010 - 2020 (PESINAPH).

The PESINAPH is a basic tool posed as one of its objectives, the development of clear initiatives for the protection, recovery and use of ecosystems, habitats, representative species and prioritized for Honduras and proposed as a result of consolidation of a system of terrestrial protected areas and marine-coastal representation.

also fosters a favorable environment for financial resources, stable, long term and appropriate, to help cover costs in a way that promotes efficiency and effectiveness of management National System of Protected Areas of Honduras (SINAPH).

has a plan of action to be executed over a period of 10 years, through four programs: 1 ) Positioning and value of SINAPH with market criteria, 2) Payment for environmental services and project development, 3) Strengthening the capacity and 4) Financial management.

The Strategic Plan is based on the principles established in the National Plan and Vision of the Country and is subject to strategic planning requires the involvement of the branches of government and the political, economic and social.

A others, proposes measures and processes aimed SINAPH to consolidate and develop systems and mechanisms for effective management of protected areas in the country.

This Plan, has been possible through the coordinated work by the National Alliance for the Implementation of the Programme of Work on Protected Areas (NISP Alliance), composed of the Directorate of Biodiversity SERNA, the Department of Protected Areas of the ICF, the German Cooperation Agency (GTZ) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and other organizations.
