Project Manager Institute of Forest Conservation, Decentralization Strategy reaffirms the West


In order to sign cooperation agreements with various local agencies to decentralize environmental management and co-management of watersheds suppliers and protected areas, the Executive Director of the Institute of Forest Conservation (ICF), José Trinidad Suazo, toured the region west of the country.

The amount of the agreements amounted to 100 thousand and 200 thousand Lempiras, for decentralization of funds in the Associations of Colosuca, MAPANCE and Higuito and for mayor of Santa Rosa Copan, about a million Lempiras.

also signed an agreement with the PUCA Foundation for the transfer of technical and financial resources aimed at co-management of the Protected Area, Wildlife Reserve Puca and the official handover of environmental planning instruments at the regional and municipal.

The Co-Management Plan of the River Subbasin Higuito covering 13 municipalities, co-management plans waterworks areas of the municipalities of Bethlehem Gualcho, Ocotepeque, San Sebastian and San Juan Intibucá Lempira.



Similarly, delivery, Factibilización Project Management areas for forestry, protected and waterworks as La Mirona-Suptal (4 municipalities) and depth (Santa Rosa de Copan).

With these actions, the Institute of Forest Conservation and Development Protected Areas and Wildlife contributes to the economic efficiency of state resources, the sustainability of environmental measures and further strengthening of institutions and the local population.
