CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between governments. Aims to ensure that international trade in specimens of animals and plants does not pose a threat to their survival.
The species covered by CITES are listed in three different Appendices, according to their degree of protection, threatened or endangered.
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was held to amend the Appendices for inclusion fauna of endemic iguanas spiny-tailed Utila, Roatan and Aguan Valley (Ctenosaura bakeri, Ctenosaura oedirhina, Ctenosaura melanosterna and Ctenosaura palearis).
Similarly, the proposal was submitted for inclusion in Appendix II to 5 species of frogs of the genus Agalychnis, the proposal was made by Mexico and Honduras. Also approved the draft Conservation of species of Cedrela odorata, Dalbergia retusa, Dalbergia blackwood, Dalbergia stevensonii and Mahogany.
